Snow Removal – Aurora, CO

Aurora Public Works was looking to improve effectiveness of personal resources. When they implemented CompassCom’s solution, they saw an immediate increase in efficiency of 15%. They were concerned with the reaction from the Union toward “Big Brother”, so they choose a different approach. They set up a policy to reward the over achievers rather than punish the under achievers. Through CompassCom’s solution, they were able to tell whom the consciences workers were, and gave them incentives. The solution provided immediate return on investment, and generated internal competition among the works causing the worker efficiency to rise another 10%. They are very happy with their choice of CompassCom Software solution.

Street Sweeping – Ft. Collins, CO

Fort Collins Street Division wanted a way to track the operating cost of their fleet of Snowplows and Street Sweepers efficiently as well as maximizing their limited assets. Tracking cost manually was requiring too much manpower as well as big delays in results. Using CompassLDE to interface with the GPS based wireless hardware, Fort Collins is now feeding the hours, mileage and status material of their sweepers into an oracle database to store real time data by the activity by day, month and year. The data is sent to an Excel spreadsheet where cost is applied to each line item. Though CompassCom, they determine their running costs as they incur for sweeping operations each day as well as monitor performance in real time.

Solid Waste – Atlantic County Utility Association (ACUA)

ACUA uses CompassLDE and CompassTrac to view the location and status for their fleet of solid waste vehicles. Discrete monitors show the loading/unloading status or each truck and CompassCom’s reporting module provides fleet efficiency information to supervisors improving fleet efficiency.

Maintenance Vehicles (Fleet) – Fremont, CA

CompassCom Inc., provides an MRM System to the City of Fremont, Calif. Fremont uses the CompassCom AVL system to track its fleet of Public Works vehicles.
The CompassCom AVL solution purchased by Fremont includes two components – CompassTrac™ and CompassLDE™. CompassTrac is the Desktop software component of the CompassCom system, which displays the location and status of the vehicles, in real time, on a digital map. CompassLDE is universal AVL server software that simultaneously receives vehicle location and status data for multiple fleets over a wireless communication network, retrieving data for reporting and payback. CompassLDE Interfaces with the cities unlicensed band wireless network, reducing cost of wireless service. Fremont has documented $100,000’s in savings from utilizing the system.
