CENTENNIAL,
Colo., 11 Sept. 2007 – CompassCom Software
Corp. is pleased to announce that it has worked jointly
with Azteca Systems Inc. to develop an interface between
the CompassLDE automatic vehicle location (AVL) solution
and Azteca’s Cityworks asset maintenance management
system. This allows Azteca clients to view the status and
locations of vehicles in real time on their Cityworks map
displays.
“CompassCom Software and Azteca have combined two
critical public works applications – vehicle tracking
and asset maintenance management – into an integrated
GIS-centric solution for faster and easier decision making,”
said CompassCom Software CEO W. Brant Howard. “These
two applications can now be accessed within the enterprise
GIS.”
CompassLDE is a universal AVL and mobile resource management
server that receives wireless GPS-based location and status
information from vehicles in multiple fleets over different
communications networks simultaneously. Compatible with
the CompassTrac client application and ESRI-based GIS software,
CompassLDE serves location-based data in real time via the
Internet or intranet for displaying on computer-aided dispatch,
mobile data terminals or third party software, such as the
Azteca Cityworks system.
Cityworks is the leading GIS-centric asset and maintenance
management solution. It is a powerful, flexible, and affordable
package that is used by a wide array of industries to help
agencies respond to customer needs and manage assets using
the workflow they are accustomed to. Scalable, easy-to-use,
and based on open technology, Cityworks has been successfully
deployed at hundreds of sites around the world, increasing
productivity, improving customer service, and lowering operational
costs.
“The integration of CompassLDE and Cityworks offers
our customers a unique and powerful solution to managing
the resources deployed to care for their assets and critical
infrastructure,” said Brian Haslam, President of Azteca
Systems. “We believe both existing and potential customers
will find this extended solution useful and attractive.
And, being GIS-based, this further illustrates the unparalleled
benefits of GIS-centric solutions working together.”
The interface between CompassLDE and Cityworks displays
georeferenced icons on the digital map screen to show the
real-time locations of vehicles that have been equipped
with AVL GPS/modem devices. The Cityworks user can click
on any individual vehicle icon as it moves across the map
to access details of its status, heading and speed. The
CompassLDE server technology enables the user to simultaneously
track the locations of hundreds of vehicles from multiple
fleets.
“The most important benefit that CompassLDE offers
to Cityworks clients is the ability to see the precise locations
of their vehicles and crews relative to their organization’s
assets in real time,” said Howard.
CompassCom Software expects the new AVL interface will
appeal to Cityworks clients in public works, utility, water/wastewater
and other municipal departments. In addition, the interface
will enable existing CompassCom customers to utilize Cityworks
asset management in their existing enterprise.
