Zigbee-based vehicle diagnostics capability is now available to our clients through a reseller agreement signed in November 2011 with Prova Systems®.

Prova Systems' hardware and software is now integrated into the complete CompassCom GPS-based Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) application, bringing On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) precision to aid in providing customers with more data to show fleet management Return on Investment.

If you are looking for engine diagnostics and driver behavior reporting combined with the benefits of real-time fleet tracking, this technology can provide daily diagnostic knowledge for every individual vehicle in the fleet, to reduce costs and increase efficiency.

Zigbee is a wireless communications standard (IEEE 802.15.4) that provides cost-effective, short-range data downloads, and allows mesh networking. Along with CompassCom's real-time tracking, replays, geofencing and other benefits of mobile asset tracking, Prova Systems' OBD will provide fleet managers with detailed operational diagnostics on individual vehicles at end-of-day or when they come within 150 feet of the access point.

This information is then integrated into CompassCom's patented technology to compile all the information seamlessly, regardless of source, into an easily-searched data set that allows managers to make informed decisions and continuously improve their overall fleet performance and ROI.

With OBD, managers receive extremely precise data to compute operational expenses for individual vehicles, even to the level of driver logs. Measure driver behavior by accessing the VIN # and driver ID on individual vehicles as the data downloads. Engine diagnostic data is available in a dashboard format.

OBD is not real-time; the information is downloaded when vehicles return to the radius of the access equipment and compiled into the SQL or Oracle database that gathers all the real-time information that CompassCom's AVL collects. The two technologies together create a complete, precise picture.
